Funding Alert
On May 1, the Congress announced a final deal on the Fiscal Year 2017 Omnibus bill to fund the federal government until September 30, 2017. The good news is that most of the education accounts were either level funded or received increases. IDEA Part B received a $90 million dollar increase with final funding at $12,000,848 billion; the Office for Civil Rights received a modest increase of $1.5 million with a total of $109 million and Title 1 received a $550 million increase, which includes $450 million brought over from the Student Improvement Grants which eliminated the Every Student Succeeds Act.
IDEA Part B preschool programs is funded at law, receiving $368.2 million and Part C, for infants and toddlers was also level funded, receiving $458.56 million.
